Plaster Carving Plaster Carving from Historical Art Movements Students researched images of different art movements in history and selected the one they liked the most. They used images as inspiration for their own carvings. They had to draw out their images in their sketchbooks and then carve out of plaster, their final piece. 	Beginning Competence, understanding and effort with the project are limited. 100 pts	Satisfactory Satisfactory degree of competence, understanding and effort. 84 pts	Proficient High degree of competence, understanding and effort. 74 pts
Planning The student researched and selected a piece from an artistic movement as inspiration for their final piece. The student has made a detailed sketch of the final project.	Beginning Student has a very rough sketch or no sketch. Student does not know which art movement their piece comes from.	Satisfactory Student has a quick sketch and knows what movement the inspiration piece has come from.	Proficient Student has a well drawn out sketch and understands what artistic movement it belongs to and why fits with that.
Abstract/ Realistic Piece is a unified, aesthetically pleasing construction when viewed from all angles.	Beginning Piece has been carved.	Satisfactory Piece is a satisfactorily pleasing construction when viewed from one side.	Proficient Piece is a unified, aesthetically pleasing construction when viewed from all angles.
Construction and Detail Model is secure, neat and balanced in a way that demonstrates control of media used and attention to detail.	Beginning Model demonstrates limited degree of care in construction and no attention to detail.	Satisfactory Model shows a satisfactory degree of care in construction and shows adequate attention to detail.	Proficient Model is neat and shows a high degree of care in construction and shows very good attention to detail.
Time Student has submitted the completed piece in the due time. Student used time in class well and little time was wasted.	Beginning Student did not make good use of class time. Piece was submitted late.	Satisfactory Piece was submitted on time. Class time was used well.	Proficient Piece was submitted before it was due. Student worked well in class and in free time (noon/ at home)
