Posture and Stance

Poor

Students are clearly not standing in choral position. Students are slouched, hands in pocket, and/or moving too much.
Fair

Students are nervous and thus moves or shakes, but all other categories are acceptable.
Good

Students show excellent posture and stance. Feet shoulder width apart, one foot in front of the other and sternum raised.
Memorization

Poor

Words are not accurate. If student stumbles constantly on words. Students stop and have to be given words.
Students forget entrances or cut-offs.
Fair

Students stumble occasionally but not constantly.
Good

All words, entrances, cut-offs are consistent and accurate.
Tone & Pitch

Poor

Tone is not clear or not pleasing. Pith is not precise or if pitch is flat.
Fair

Tone is acceptable, but requires much work.
Pitch problems are not consistent.
Temperature or sickness prevails.
Good

Nice warm tones and excellent pitch. Obvious that students have practiced correct techniques.
Expression & Interpretation

Poor

Students do not get in tune with the listener through expression and interpretation. Or, if students are over expressive.
Fair

Students are not consistent in interpretation and expression.
Students slightly displace dynamics in the piece.
Good

Listener can understand piece and is shown good interpretation and expression.
Diction and Pronunciation

Poor

Diction is not clear or understood. Students do not properly pronounce words.
Fair

Diction and pronunciation is acceptable, but requires much more work.
Good

All words are pronounced properly and diction is accurate. Words are understood.
