Lead	Poor Beginning of story is poor.	Fair Introduction has been established	Good Good introduction. Good flow	Excellent Introduction captures reader's attention. Lead introduces characters and sets the tone of story.
Rising Action	Poor Cannot determine where the action starts	Fair Evident, but not realistic	Good Rising action has been introduced and can be identified	Excellent Great transition into rising action. Reader is becoming engrossed in story happenings.
Climax	Poor No evidence of plot	Fair Plot has been established but does not flow with rest of the story	Good Evidence of plot and cohesiveness	Excellent Plot is evident. Has the reader engrossed.
Falling Action/Resolution	Poor Cannot be identified. Poor; no ending of story	Fair Evident, but cannot be transitioned. Out of order with rest of story. Some wrap-up but no concrete ending	Good Good transition.Conclusion evident, but no ovious resolution	Excellent Obvious transition in drawing to an end and conclusion. Nice wrap-up.
