A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words 
Students research and choose three inspirational photographs that they feel make they grateful for the gifts in their lives. Each photograph has a specific response.

There are no descriptions given. There may be a sentence given for each picture. The connections may lack emotion.
Fair

There is little to no connection given for the photographs. Descriptions are basic and lack thoughtfulness. There is little evidence of gratitude written in connection with the pictures.
Good

There are some connections made for each picture. Although, there could be more details. Evidence of gratitude is mostly explained.
Excellent!

Each description targets that specific picture and demonstrates a deep connection. The student's gratitude is written with clarity and description.
Presentation

Poor

The presentation is sloppy and shows little effort and time. There is barely any creativity shown.
Fair

The presentation is somewhat neat, but it lacks creativity.
Good

The presentation is neat. Creativity is displayed.
Excellent!

The student exceeds expectations with presentation and thinks outside of just the options given. It shows time, effort, and thought.
Spelling/ Grammar/ Structure

Poor

There are numerous spelling errors, lack of vocabulary, and incomplete sentences. No proofreading took place.
Fair

There is some effort towards sentence structure. However, there is a lack of proofreading and vocabulary.
Good

Sentence structure is evident. There is some vocabulary used. There are a few spelling errors.
Excellent!

Each sentence shows fluency in writing. All sentences connect to the same idea for each picture. There are barely any spelling errors.
Oral Presentation

Poor

Student shows little interest in his/her presentation. He/she does not speak with clarity or at a volume that presents their personal work. Student seems confused or distracted while reading project aloud.
Fair

There is some evidence of practice before presenting. Student reads almost directly from project. Student has expression in voice.
Good

Student has practiced project sufficiently, does not need to read from project. Voice is clear and projects loudly.
Excellent!

Student has practiced presentation so well that he/she does need to read from project. He/she adds details while presenting, showing a stronger connection to pictures.
