Poetry Portfolio Culminating Task: This project is the final assessment in the unit of Poetry. This is a multi-week task wherein students compile original poetry written in and out of class showcasing the use of myriad poetic devices. Points are allotted as follows: Title Page, 10 pts; Table of Contents, 20 pts; 10 poems, 100 pts; Theme of the Portfolio, 40 pts; and a Glossary of Poetic Devices, 20 pts. Students need to present the portfolio in its entirety creatively and decoratively. The poems must be a variety and have to include 5 of the following types: limerick; ode; sonnet; elegy; concrete; five sense; diamante; haiku; ballad; lyric; metaphor; definition; free verse; couplet; triplet; or quatrain. The poems must have at least 3 poetic devices in each.

The poems and portfolio show some thoughtfulness in their presentation. Images were not related, but were used to enhance the presentation of the project.

The poems and portfolio are attractive in terms of design, layout and neatness; the overall presentation is good.
Excelling
The portfolio is exceptionally attractive in terms of design, layout, and neatness. All images used are related to the poems and enhance the overall presentation of the portfolio.
Grammar & Punctuation
Beginning
There are numerous spelling, diction, or grammar errors.
Developing
The poet's intended meaning is muddled by some spelling, diction, or grammar errors.
Established
Some spelling, diction or grammar mistakes are evident, but do not diminish meaning.
Excelling
Proper use of modern English spelling, diction, and grammar are employed consistently throughout portfolio.
