Linear Abstract Painting Students learned how to graph functions on a coordinate grid then after viewing and discussing linear abstract art students painted their function on canvas panels using acrylic paint. Linear Abstract Painting
	Poor 10 pts	Fair 15 pts	Good 20 pts
Sketches	Poor The student created one sketch.	Fair The student created two sketches.	Good The student created three sketches showing how they planned to interpret their function as a painting.
Background	Poor The student did not mix paint to create their color.	Fair The student covered their background ad mixed a color, but could have been neater.	Good The student mixed an interesting color/colors for their background and covered it entirely.
Painting the Function	Poor The student painted lines, but could have used more variety.	Fair The student used a variety of lines, colors, and techniques, but could not describe them.	Good The student used a variety of line, color, and techniques to create their lines and could describe their lines well. They had mastery of the materials.
Artist Statement	Poor The student could not explain the math function.	Fair The student wrote a paragraph, but could not explain the function or the lines or mood fully.	Good The student wrote a paragraph describing his/her function and how they transformed it into a painting. They described how they painted the function, what types of lines they used, and what type of mood the painting created.
Time and Effort	Poor The student was off-task and did not put forth much effort.	Fair The student was distracted and/or could have put more effort into the assignment.	Good The student used 100% effort and 100% time on task.
