Original Designs	Poor Logos are not original, clearly ideas were taken from other logos or company ideas. Student did not research companies and logos do not represent companies very well.	Fair Logos are somewhat creative and original ideas, but only somewhat effective for company chosen. Student may have researched ideas but were not as effective in utilizing the info.	Good Logos are completely original, creative and effectively used for the company chosen. Student researched ideas and designed effective logos.
Composition	Poor Logos are simple but not effective at representing the companies chosen. The designs do not fit with the company idea.	Fair Logos are simple but only somewhat effective at representing the companies chosen.	Good Logos are simple but effective at representing the companies chosen.
Class Time	Poor Class time was not used wisely to work on logos, they are not finished, and several of the criteria given to the student before the assignment is missing.	Fair Students only used partial class time was used to work on logos, they are not completely finished, and some of the criteria given to the student before the assignment is missing.	Good Class time was used to work on logos, they are completely finished, and fit the criteria given to the student before assignment.
Color	Poor Student chose colors that do not enhance the logo and color choices are poor and ineffective for logo.	Fair Student chose effective colors that make the logo look okay but could have picked colors that would have been more effective.	Good Student chose effective colors that enhance the logo and make it stand out from the competition.
Black and white	Poor Student's logo is not effective in black and white. There is minimal contrast and should have been increased and the logo would be faded and difficult to see when printed.	Fair Student's logo is not as effective in black and white as it is in color. There is some contrast but should have been increased and the logo would be faded and not print as well.	Good Student's logo is just as effective in black and white as it is in color. There is good contrast and the logo would print well.
Thumbnail Sketches	Poor Sketches were not creative and were all very similar. Not much thought was put into the project and sketches are incomplete.	Fair Sketches are somewhat creative but not utilized in the design process. Ideas were very similar. Only partial sketches were turned in.	Good Sketches are creative and were very helpful in the design process. Student clearly had great ideas and used them effectively. All sketches were turned in .
