Dots	Attempts Grade Level The student was not successful in applying dots. Dots are long brush marks rather than q-tips dots.	Progressing to Grade level The student applied dots with q-tip sbut the dots are spaced out with too much black between.	Grade level with excellence The student applied dots with q-tips. Dots are close but not on top of one another, round and full color.
Colors	Attempts Grade Level Random colors were used and like colors are touching one another.	Progressing to Grade level Student used contrasting colors not all complimentary. Like colors are not touching one another.	Grade level with excellence Student used all Complimentary colors. Balanced colors around the painting no likes touching
Composition	Attempts Grade Level Painting seems incomplete there are areas of black on paper.	Progressing to Grade level Student filled the paper with circles with 8 rings but left too much area between	Grade level with excellence Entire paper is filled with dots. Student included 8 rings on circles and dots are spaced perfectly.
Craftsmanship	Attempts Grade Level Painting appears messy. Matt is not even and student did not erase pencil lines.	Progressing to Grade level Most dots are carefully painted, however, more paint could have been used. Not all pencil lines are erased. Double matt could be neater.	Grade level with excellence Dots are neatly painted not rushed. Student carefully erased pencil and matted on 2 pieces of paper evenly.
Time and effort	Attempts Grade Level Class time was not use wisely and student put little effort into the painting. Assignment seems incomplete.	Progressing to Grade level Most of the class time was used wisely, but student could have been more focused during the creation of the piece.	Grade level with excellence Class time was used wisely. Much time and effort went into the planning and creation of the piece.
