Epic Rap Battle of Literature This rubric assesses the creative option of the Epic Poetry and Macbeth unit. Students will create a rap battle utilizing the authors, characters, or combinations of both to battle each other revealing the characters' traits, author's style, and literary elements of both. Epic Rap Battles of Literature Enter rubric description
	Poor Fails to meet requirements, expectaitons 20 pts	Fair Meets but does not exceed requirements, expectations 35 pts	Good Meets and exceeds minimum requirements and expectations 50 pts
Elements & Mechanics The time limits, content requirements, and battle presentation of characters/authors	Poor Rap battle is less than 2:30 battle, each character/author battling once or less, while using few of the relevant character traits, accomplishments, styles, ambitions, etc.	Fair Rap battle includes 2:45-3:15 battle, each character/author battling 2 & 1, while using most relevant character traits, accomplishments, styles, ambitions, etc.	Good Rap battle includes 3:30 battle, each character/author battling twice, while using relevant character traits, accomplishments, styles, ambitions, etc.
Content & Requirements Content of battle and characters/authors	Poor Battle shows limited or no understanding of 1 or both characters/authors, but Battle shows little to no understanding of relevant characteristics, accomplishments, failures, ambitions, and/or styles.	Fair Battle shows some understanding of at least 1 of the characters/authors, but or partial understanding of both characters/authors. Battle shows limited understanding of relevant characteristics, accomplishments, failures, ambitions, and/or styles.	Good Battle shows clear and concise understanding of selected characters/ authors. The battle uses relevant characteristics, accomplishments, failures, ambitions, and/or styles.
Creativity and Understanding Understanding of selected characters/authors, creativity of battle	Poor Minimally creative. Contains few, but at least 1 but not more than two of the creative elements of music, costumes, animations, and clever lyrics in the battle presentation.	Fair Moderately creative. 2or more, but not all elements of creative lyrics, music, animations, costumes in the presentation of the battle.	Good Extraordinarily creative presentation of battle. Including but not limited music, animations, costumes, and clever battle lyrics.
