Self-Advocacy	Poor Student demonstrates control over Academic Social Skills ONLY THROUGH THE USE OF EXTERNAL SUPPORTS (parents, friends etc.)	Fair Student demonstrates some personal control over Academic Social Skills by positive behaviors in some areas of self-advocacy (asking appropriate questions)	Good Student demonstrates high level of Academic Social Skills by showing INDEPENDENCE in the area of self-advocacy in all situations.
Identifies own needs	Poor Student cannot identify what their needs are to assist them in academic situations or cannot relay those needs to another party	Fair Student can identify what their needs are to assist them in academic situations but unable to be assertive about getting needs met.	Good Student can identify own needs and is assertive about getting those needs met.
communicates needs to others	Poor Student cannot communicate their academic social skills needs to another person either verbally or in written expression	Fair Student can communicate their needs but does not seek out the appropriate party to express their needs (goes to parent/friend not teacher/tutor/IS)	Good Student can communicate their needs and seek out appropriate person and expresses needs appropriately.
