Characters	Poor Little information is given about the protagonist and essential characters are not mentioned.	Acceptable Some information is given about the protagonist as well as other essential characters.	Excellent Elaborate information is given about the protagonist, as well as connections with essential characters.
Plot	Poor A minimal plot description is given, or it is too detailed, or it is confusing.	Acceptable The plot description is brief and easy to follow, but it lacks interest.	Excellent The plot description is brief, is clear and easy to follow, and creates interest in the reader to read the book.
