Student meets the minimum required standards.

Student fails to meet the minimum required standards.

Epistle Information

Basic information includes: Author, type of letter, audience, etc.

Excellent

Student demonstrates exceptional understanding of the background of their Epistle and presents additional complex information.
Good

Student demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the background of his/her Epistle and presents additional basic information.
Fair

Student demonstrates a basic understanding of his/her Epistle and presents the minimum amount of information necessary.
Poor

Student fails to demonstrate an understanding of the basic knowledge of his/her Epistle.
Passage Reading and Relevance

Reading and relevence includes: reading of passage, statement of theme, and explanation of importance to current, Christian lifestyle.

Excellent

Student reads the scripture passage and uses a "modern parable" to make the passage relevent to his/her peers.
Good

Student reads the scripture passage and uses an explanation utilizing comparisons which makes the passage relevent to his/her peers.
Fair

Student reads the scripture passage and explains the passage to make it relevent to his/her peers.
Poor

Student reads the scripture passage and fails to make the passage relevent to his/her peers.
Class Activity

Class activity is based on an activity related to his/her Epistle and the engagment of his/her peers.

Excellent

Activity is grounded in the Epistle, engages the entire class, and makes a lasting impact on his/her peers.
Good

Activity is based on the Epistle and engages the majority of his/her peers.
Fair

Activity is loosely related to the Epistle and allows for some participation by his/her peers.
Poor

Activity is unrelated to student's Epistle and does not engage his/her peers.
Creativity

Creativity includes the student's unique design of the presentation and class activity.

Excellent

Student utilizes creative skills to make his/her presentation and class activity extremely unique.
Good

Student utilizes creative skills to make his/her presentation and class activity somewhat unique.
Fair

Some creativity is apparent in the student's presentation and class activity.
Poor

Student fails to utilize creative skills during his presentation or class activity.
Preparation

Preparation includes the demonstration of prep-time for the presentation and adequate props.

Excellent

Near flawless exectution of the presentation showes that the student spent a large period of time preparing.
Good

Student showed a concern for doing well by putting considerable thought into their presentation.
Fair

Student made minimal preparations to present his/her Epistle well.
Poor

Student made little preparation which affected their ability to present the matierial effectively.

The following criteria is based on the participation of the student during presentation times.

Student is attentive and engaging during presentations, askes questions of presenting peers, and participates in class activities.
Good

Student is attentive during presentations and actively participates in class activities.
Fair

Student is attentive during classroom presentations.
Poor

Student is inattentive during presentations and fails to participate in class activities.
