Character is dressed in a creative manner with hair, facial features, clothing, etc. Does an excellent job showing what the character looks like

Character's appearance looks good but could use more detail or is missing a small element

Character's appearance is a little sloppy or incomplete. Is missing some parts

Character's appearance is minimal or not done at all

3-5 detailed sentences on 9 body parts that explain how each body part's requirements relate to the character. Polished writing with three or fewer conventional errors

3-5 sentences on 7-8 body parts but could use more detail, or one or two don't quite relate to the body parts. May focus too much on one part of the book or repeats info. Shows good editing with 7 or fewer conventional errors

2 sentences on 5-6 body parts, minimal detail, mostly relate to the same part of the book or is very repetitive, does not relate to the character or show character analysis.

1 or fewer sentences, is not descriptive, does not explain how the body parts relate to the character or follow directions. Is apparent that student did not read book

Outstanding appearance: very creative, good use of color, in ink or pen, is neatly done. Includes book title, author, character name

Good appearance: has pencil but neatly done, good use of color, is creative

Has pencil and is messy, minimal use of color, lacks creativity. Is missing one of the following: title, author, or character

Looks thrown together, is sloppy, no color, incomplete. Has no title, author, or character
