Level Four (94-100)
Poems is creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and compellingly conveyed their ideas and emotions.
Level Three (80 - 93)
Poem is thoughtful and creative. A couple of phrases or ideas could have been revisited, but the overall product is carefully written.
Level Two (70-79)
The poem is creative, but appears to be rushed.
Level One (55-69)
Poem appears to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive and ideas or impersonal or unoriginal.

Level Four (94-100)
Poem is complete and follows its intended form.
Level Three (80 - 93)
Poem is mostly written in the proper form.
Level Two (70-79)
Poem is somewhat written in the proper form.
Level One (55-69)
Poem is not written in the proper form
Grammar
Level Four (94-100)
Proper use of modern English spelling and grammar is employed consistently throughout the poem.
Level Three (80 - 93)
A couple of spelling or grammar mistakes are evident, but do not diminish the meaning of the poem.
Level Two (70-79)
The poet's intended meaning is muddled by several spelling or grammar errors.
Level One (55-69)
There are numerous spelling or grammar errors, making the poem difficult to understand.
Neatness
Level Four (94-100)
The poem is well-written in terms of layout and neatness; so much so that it looks attractive. Any appropriate photos added give a bonus but are not necessary.
Level Three (80 - 93)
The poem is well-written in terms of layout and neatness. Any photos added that are appropriate give added attractiveness but are not necessary.
Level Two (70-79)
The poem is neat but it may be a bit messy. Any pictures included may be inappropriate to the topic of the poem.
Level One (55-69)
The poem is distractingly messy or very poorly written. The illustration is not appropriate for the poem.
Writing Process
Level Four (94-100)
Student clearly utilizes prewriting, drafting, revising and editing in writing the piece.
Level Three (80 - 93)
Student shows some evidence of either prewriting, drafting or revising and editing, but leaves a step out.
Level Two (70-79)
Student shows very little evidence of prewriting, drafting or revising and editing. Leaves more than 1 step out.
Level One (55-69)
Student shows no evidence of prewriting, drafting or revising and editing.
