(N/A)

Knowledge of Choreography

I know what I am doing at all times, and pay close attention to HOW it is executed.

Exemplary

I demonstrate excellent knowledge of the choreography
and perform it well.
Proficient

I demonstrate adequate knowledge of choreography and can keep up with the group. Few errors, however it does not interfere with performance.
Developing

I demonstrate some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of some movements. I sometimes hesitate/ watch others and make several errors
Beginning

I remember a few of the steps/ movements and try, but look lost and out of sync with others.
Additional Comments
Technical Skills

Basic alignment/positions including neutral spine, contraction, parallel legs versus turned out, use of pile to create groundedness, etc...

Exemplary

I performed with full attention to quality of movement, body position, placement in relation to the group, and other details of dance. I was thinking about my technique and corrections throughout.
Proficient

I performed with some attention to details of technique, and remembered some corrections while dancing.
Developing

I show only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) while performing.
Beginning

Little attention is paid to how movements are done or other details of dance. I am more focused on doing the movements right than doing them WELL.
Additional Comments
Performance Skills

Focus of eyes up and out, connection to musical quality, facial expressions, body language, etc...

Exemplary

I create a strong, believable presence and am able to engage the audience. I communicate with the audience and other dancers through eye body and facial expression.
Proficient

I communicate with other dancers and audience through eye contact and facial and body expression. I am able to engage the audience most of the time.
Developing

I am generally focused, but only some attempt made to communicate with others on stage or audience.
Beginning

I am not very focused, concentrated or committed to performance. I made little to no effort to look at the audience or use facial expression and eye contact.
Additional Comments
Rhythm/Tempo

Clear demonstrating of counts/sequence as well as dancing through the beats and filling the space in between, etc...

Exemplary

I stay on rhythm throughout the entire dance. I show a clear understanding of how music, tempo, and beat influences my performance and technical execution. I am clearly dancing with the music.
Proficient

I am accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences throughout the dance. I danced with the music, but didn't use it to influence my performance.
Developing

I show a basic understanding of tempo and beat, but fall behind and/or speeds up in places or make errors in rhythm. I struggled to dance with the music.
Beginning

I attempt to keep a rhythm, but get off beat and speed up or fall behind often. I don't follow beat in music.
Additional Comments
Professionalism

Managed errors well, including tech crew, lighting, sound, communication, costumes, and missing cues.

Exemplary

I was able to maintain focus and quality of dancing despite mistakes or setbacks (lighting, sound, memory, peers, etc). I did not show mistakes on my face, and helped peers do the same.
Proficient

I didn't let mistakes stop me from dancing and performing to my fullest, although they may have thrown me off a bit.
Developing

I tried to mask mistakes, but they impacted my performance and I struggled to catch back up afterwards. I let it show on my face.
Beginning

I let my own and other's mistakes get in the way of my performance and execution. I complained when others made mistakes (tech crew peers, etc).
Additional Comments
Conduct

Represented the Dance program positively by demonstrating appropriate behaviour during performances and rehearsal process.

Exemplary

I showed up on time every day, worked hard in rehearsal, and followed directions. I was kind to tech crew, helped my peers, and and was a strong role model for other dancers.
Proficient

I worked hard, but could have pushed myself more in rehearsal. I was occasionally late. I was supportive of others, but didn't provide help.
Developing

I showed up and did what I needed to do without consideration of others.
Beginning

I didn't follow instructions and was late or missing regularly. I was rude to others and made people feel unwelcome.
