Minimal Progress

Student does not use large arm circles to turn rope. Does not make an effort to turn rope in time with partner. Does not keep the body perpendicular to the rope. Rope is not the appropriate length between the partners turning rope.

Turns rope with large arm circles inconsistently. Has difficulty turning rope in time with partner cosistently. Keeps the body perpendicular to rope inconsistently. Rope is appropriate length between partners inconsistently.
Proficient

Turns rope with large arm circles. Turns rope in time with partner at appropriate speed. Keeps the body perpendicular to the rope. Rope is appropriate length between partners. Somewhat fluid motion.
Exceeds Expectations

Turns rope with large arm circles. In time with partner, appropriate length of rope and at the perfect speed for jumper. Very fluid motion.
Jumping the Rope

Minimal Progress

Student does not jump on the balls of the feet. Student does not start in the center of the rope. Student cannot recognize the appropriate "spot" to jump rope. Student cannot use a "hesitation" between jumps in order to "time" next jump. Student does not understand the concept of "waiting" or "timing" involved in rope jumping.

Student does not jump on the balls of the feet. Student does not start at the center of the rope consistently. Student recognizes the appropriate "jump" spot inconsistently. Student sometimes uses a "hesitation"between jumps in order to "time" next jump.
Proficient

Student jumps on the balls of the feet consistently. Student uses small continuous jumps. Student recognizes the appropriate "jump" spot. Student uses a "hesitation" between jumps in order to "time" next jump inconsistently. Can string several jumps together at times.
Exceeds Expectations

Student recognizes "jump" spot easily and uses a "hesitation" between jumps in order to "time" the next jump. Student jumps lightly and effortlessly using a fluid motion. Can successfully string several jumps together. Is a confident jumper.
