Word Choice and Creativity	Level 4 Poem is creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and uniquely conveyed their ideas and emotions.	Level 3 Poem is thoughtful and creative. A couple of words may be confusing but the overall product is carefully written.	Level 2 Most of the poem is creative, but appears to be rushed. The word choice is somewhat appropriate for the poem topic/topics.	Level 1 Poems appear to be thoughtless or rushed. Word choice is not appropriate for the poem topic/topics.
Neatness and Completion	Level 4 Good copy is completed on a blank sheet of paper. It is very neat and can be read without any difficulty.	Level 3 Good copy is completed on a blank sheet of paper. It is fairly neat and is mostly easy to read.	Level 2 Good copy is completed on a blank sheet of paper. It can be read with some difficulty and the finished product appears rushed.	Level 1 Good copy is not completed on blank paper. It is messy and very hard to read.
Grammar and Spelling	Level 4 Work is completely free of spelling and grammar errors.	Level 3 Work is mostly free of spelling and grammar errors.	Level 2 Work contains several grammar and spelling errors.	Level 1 Works contains many spelling and grammar errors.
