Block Letter

Excellent

The block letter the student chose is exceptionally drawn and filled the box and touches all four sides and is labeled with the correct color.
Good

The block letter the student chose is drawn well and some of the letter touches the some of the sides the box and is labeled with the correct color.
Average

The block letter the student chose is drawn but needs some work and is not touching some of the sides and some of the colors are not the correct color.
Poor

The block letter is poorly drawn and more than two sides of the letter do not touch the sides of the box. There are more than three colors that are incorrect.
Correct Colors & Value

Excellent

Primary, Secondary and Tertiary colors are correct. Value is blended smoothly and there are no lines when the color goes from dark to light.
Good

Primary, secondary and tertiary are used but the student used two incorrect colors. The student tried to so value but there are some lines showing when going from dark to light.
Average

Primary, secondary and tertiary colors are used but three or more incorrect. Value is not done correctly and their lines in the transition from dark to light.
Poor

Primary, secondary and tertiary colors have many mistakes. It is obvious the student did not take time to understand the color wheel and its colors. There is no value with the colors; the student is not showing any signs of understanding of fading from dark to light without lines.
Presentation

Excellent

The student took great pride in their work. The letters are cut neatly and with great precision and the glue is not outside of the letter and the letter is laying completely flat.
Good

The student seem to some effort in their work. The letters are cut neatly and the glue is not outside of the letter.
Average

The letters are cut and the letters are glued down but some of the glue is showing outside the letter.
Poor

The student did not cut smoothly; the edge of the letters have glue outside of them and there is extra glue on the finish product.
Colored Pencil Technique

Excellent

The student exhibits exceptional use of colored pencils. The colors are applied with using a circular motion and are smooth with no dark marks throughout. The student used the colorless blender and shows control over the colored pencil.
Good

The student uses of colored pencils well. The colors are applied with using a circular motion and are smooth. The student used the colorless blender and shows control over the colored pencil.
Average

The student use of colored pencils needs some work. The colors are applied going from side to side and there is dark marks throughout the color. The student used the colorless blender but did not push down hard enough to smooth out the color.
Poor

The student used the colored pencils but the color is sloppy and the colorless blender was not used correctly.
