Understanding of Concept	Emerging Shows no understanding of graphs and data. Does not know terminology (ex: data, bar graph, axes, criteria)	Developing Shows little understanding of the concept of sorting, and graphing. Uses limited mathematic terminology.	Competent Shows strong understanding of sorting and graphing. Uses mathematical terminology, but is unable to fully explain the concept.	Exemplary Shows a complete understanding of sorting and division. Uses mathematical terminology with ease (ex: data, bar graph, axes, criteria).
Use of Manipulatives	Emerging Student rarely listens and often "plays" with the manipulatives instead of using them as instructed.	Developing Student sometimes listens and follows directions and uses manipulatives appropriately when reminded.	Competent Student typically listens and follows directions and uses manipulatives as instructed most of the time.	Exemplary Student always listens and follows directions and only uses manipulatives as instructed.
Working with Others	Emerging Student did not work effectively with others.	Developing Student cooperated with others, but needed prompting to stay on task.	Competent Student was an engaged partner, but had trouble listening to others and/or working cooperatively.	Exemplary Student was an engaged partner, listening to suggestions of others and working cooperatively throughout the lesson.
Homework Completion	Emerging The homework assignment is not completed or is completed with three or more mathematical errors.	Developing The homework is completed but with two mathematical errors.	Competent Homework is completed with one mathematical error.	Exemplary Homework is completed accurately with no mathematical errors.
Neatness and Organization	Emerging The work appears sloppy and unorganized. It is hard to know what information goes together.
