Rhythmic Composition and Performance Rhythmic Composition and Performance Students will compose an eight-measure rhythmic composition that requires them to recognize and identify musical symbols and concepts. Presentation	Advanced Student has included all parts of the rhythmic staff which include time signature, bar lines, and double bar lines. Rhythm is written clearly with correct notation symbols.	Proficient Student has made an attempt to include most of the parts of the staff. Rhythm is written fairly neatly with minimal notation errors.	Partially Proficient Student has included some parts of the staff. Teacher was able to read some notation symbols.	Novice Student has made little or no attempt to include any parts of the staff. Teacher was unable to tell which notation symbols were written.
Composition	Advanced Student used rhythms that weer given by teacher and used them in a variety of ways. There are no rhythmic errors in the performance.	Proficient Student used specified rhythms but had rhythmic errors in the composition.	Partially Proficient Student did not use specified rhythms or used them incorrectly.	Novice Student did not make an attempt to use any right rhythms. Student is unable to demonstrate rhythmic understanding.
Individual Performance	Advanced Rhythmic patterns were performed without errors. Student demonstrated an excellent understanding of beat, rhythm and vocabulary.	Proficient Very few rhythmic errors; mistakes were only a little distracting to overall performance. Student demonstrated a sound understanding of beat and rhythm.	Partially Proficient Several rhythmic errors causing disruption to rhythmic flow. Student could not count beats accurately in performance.	Novice Performance has many rhythmic errors. Student did not understand concept of beat.
