Home-Made-Instrument Rubric It's time to make your own instrument. You don't have to make one of the instruments you found from last weeks homework, but try to be creative. There are many websites available to help you. I have attached many of them to my project website below: http://mrsammy.edu.glogster.com/make-your-own-instrument/? If you get proficient in all three categories below you will earn an A. If you go above and beyond into the advanced category you can earn extra credit. Pitch	Not Evident The instrument can not emit a sound.	Partially Proficient The instrument can only produce one or two different pitches.	Proficient The instrument can produce three to four pitches.	Advanced The instrument can produce more than four distinct pitches in a musical scale.
Materials	Not Evident No materials were used or the instrument was purchased (it was not home-made).	Partially Proficient Student purchased the majority of the materials from a store, or the instrument was made from another instrument.	Proficient Students purchased a few materials and combined them with materials they found (i.e. student bought guitar strings, rubber bands, beeswax, etc.)	Advanced Student used materials entirely found at home or in nature.
Craftsmanship and Aesthetic Value	Not Evident The student did not construct anything.	Partially Proficient The instrument makes music, but there was little effort put in to making it 'look nice.'	Proficient The student paid attention to detail and there are a number of decorative elements added to the instrument.	Advanced The instrument is stunning! It is a true work of art.
