Gross Examination Size:	Outstanding The blood smear is between 1/2 and 3/4 of the slide.	Good The blood smear is between 1/4 and 1/2 of the slide or greater than 3/4 of the slide.	Poor The blood smear is less than 1/4 or to the end of the slide.
Gross Examination Streaks and Gaps:	Outstanding The blood smear has no obvious streaks or gaps.	Good The blood smear has minimal streaking and/or small gaps.	Poor The blood smear has obvious, large streaks and gaps throughout the slide.
40x Evaluation Areas:	Outstanding There is a recognizable body, counting area and feathered edge.	Good There is a recognizable body and feathered edge but no recognizable counting area.	Poor There are no recognizable areas of the blood smear.
40x Evaluation Counting Area:	Outstanding There are over 20 counting fields.	Good There are between 10 and 15 counting fields.	Poor There are less than 10 counting fields.
