Response to Debate Questions	Outstanding Student responded to the questions with excellent ideas and thoughtful responses.	Proficient Student responded to the questions with consistently good ideas and clear responses.	Basic Student's responses to the questions had some good ideas, but were sometimes confusing.	Beginning Student's responses were unclear and showed little forethought.
Speech / Voice	Outstanding Student used a very clear voice with excellent expression and proper volume. Presentation was very interesting for audience members.	Proficient Student used a clear voice with good expression and volume. Presentation was interesting for audience members.	Basic Student needs some improvement with voice clarity, expression, and volume to make their presentation more interesting for audience members.	Beginning Student mumbled, used little expression, and volume was so low that most audience members could not hear, and lost interest in presentation.
Confidence	Outstanding Student has an admirable character and inspires confidence in how they present themselves, both character-wise and academically.	Proficient Student has an admirable character and is a good worker.	Basic Student has positive character traits, but sometimes does not act in an admirable way.	Beginning Student does not inspire confidence in how they present themselves, character-wise or academically.
