Artist wrote a personal idea but was not able to make an artistic connection to the work presented.

Artist wrote a sentence that made a personal connection between the artist and the artwork.

Artist wrote several sentences describing a personal anecdote and a quote or inspiration that made a personal connection between the artist and the artwork.
Grammar/content

Poor

Student made no edits to first draft. Used terms such as; a lot or things, to describe artwork. Used repetitious sentence structure. Was flat in tone and left no memorable ideas.
Fair

The student made some edits to first draft. Statement was well thought-out and planned. Made clear and thoughtful revisions. Some grammatical and punctuation errors but these errors did not detract from the statement
Good

The student went above and beyond editing and kept the reader's attention. There were no grammatical errors.
