IDEAS How well you answer the question.	1 I don't really understand the topic and my composition doesn't answer the question or prompt.	3 I understand the topic but my composition doesn't answer the question or prompt completely.	5 I understand the topic well, and my composition answers the question or prompt completely and provides solid evidence or examples.
Organization Follow the rules of structure for a paragraph or an essay.	1 My composition has no organization to it. It is just words or sentences written on the page.	3 My composition has a structure but it does not meet all the requirements of a paragraph or essay.	5 My composition has an easy to follow structure and all of my ideas transition naturally into the next.
