Lines	Level 4 Student used a wide variety of interesting lines. At least 7 different types.	Level 3 Student used a variety of lines. At least 5 different types.	Level 2 Student used around 3 different types of line.	Level 1 Lines are poorly drawn with no variety.
Pattern	Level 4 Student drew at least 5 different and visually interesting patterns using line.	Level 3 Student drew between 3-5 patterns in their design. Some are visually interesting while others are basic.	Level 2 Student had less than 3 patterns. Most to all patterns are basic with little to no visual interest.	Level 1 No patterns were drawn. Assignment is incomplete.
Variety	Level 4 Student used a variety of shapes and lines to create pattern and included at least 4 patterns in which part of the pattern is shaded in.	Level 3 Student used a variety of shapes and lines to create pattern but included only 3 patterns in which part of the pattern is shaded in.	Level 2 Most of the lines and shapes are the same (no variety) and/or the student included only 1 or 2 patterns in which part of the pattern is shaded in.	Level 1 Assignment is incomplete.
Craftsmanship	Level 4 Lines and patterns are neatly and very carefully drawn and traced over with black marker.	Level 3 Most of the lines are neatly and carefully drawn and traced over with black marker. Most of the patterns are neatly and carefully done. There is room for some improvement.	Level 2 Lines are poorly drawn and not carefully traced over with the black marker. Paper has smudges. The patterns appear messy.	Level 1 Assignment is incomplete.
