The AIG teacher's data is not tracked in the classroom. The teacher doesn't use any type of data to remediate students who need extra help. Students are unable to access their own needs because they are not required to track data.

Sometimes students are required to track their data. At times the teacher uses data to assess students in deciding who needs remediation.
Proficient
Students are consistently tracking their data on a monthly basis. The teacher reviews their data looking for areas that students need extra help.
Expert
The teacher consistently tracks and has the students track their data to assess student progress. Both teacher and students recognize where help is needed or where enrichment can be given.

As a AIG teacher, they are not using any type of differentiation with their students.

The teacher is currently using some differentiation with students, but they need more training on how to use differentiation effectively in the classroom.

The teacher knows their subject, they're aligning their lessons with the NC state standards. The teacher is using multiple resources to create and instruct lessons. They also attend weekly PLT (professional learning team) meetings and workshops. All these areas are helping the teacher to create valuable lessons to reach all AIG students.

The teacher is not using different methods to increase motivation in the students.
Developing
The teacher is implementing some ideas /strategies in the classroom to increase motivation in among the students.
Proficient
At times the teacher uses ideas / strategies in the classroom; healthy competition and/or choices in projects and assignments to increase motivation in the classroom.
Expert
The teacher consistently uses ideas / strategies (IXL and Achieve) to create competition among classes. The teacher also use menu boards and book challenges that allows students choices on their assignments.
Classroom Environment

The teacher has not created a safe environment for students which does not support student learning. Classroom is not very inviting and could be considered messy. There doesn't seem to be any structure or transition in the classroom.
Developing
The teacher has created a safe environment for students. Classroom is somewhat inviting and might be considered clean. The structure and routines are not consistent in the classroom and the transition from topic to topic needs work.
Proficient
The teacher has created a safe environment and the classroom is inviting to all who enter. The room is clean and students are engaged. There's structure and routines that are in place for students.
Expert
The teacher has created a safe environment and the classroom is inviting. Students are comfortable and actively engaged in the classroom and lesson. Structure and routine is apparent in the classroom and transition from topic to topic is smooth.
