Fact Sheet

Exceptional

Fact Sheet provides a thorough explanation of the story and its key points in a very clear fashion. The fable's moral or lesson is presented.
Good

Fact Sheet provides a complete summary of the events of the story in their proper order. Provides information on the fable's moral or lesson
Limited

Summary misses one key action in the story, but otherwise follows the "Good" criteria.
Unsatisfactory

Summary misses a few key actions in the story. The Fact sheet does not provide information on the moral or lesson.
Moral or Lesson

Exceptional

The moral or lesson is unique, not related to commonly known morals. The fable presents its moral in a very creative way, with plot elements that touch upon this lesson throughout the narrative.
Good

The fable teaches a moral or explains a natural phenomenon through the actions of the primary character or characters.
Limited

Although the fable attempts to teach a moral or explain a natural phenomenon, a stylistic concern or missing element of the plot, inhibits this goal.
Unsatisfactory

The fable lacks a lesson or moral.
Setting

Exceptional

The setting is richly detailed.
Good

The setting is established, avoiding the "white room" effect of characters acting without any situational context.
Limited

The setting is established in brief but has little or no impact upon the story.
Unsatisfactory

The setting is mentioned in one line, or not at all, and is not referred to again in any way. Alternatively, the setting is outlandish and detracts from the story.
Problem

Exceptional

The problem is realistic, given the context of the story, and is an excellent setup for the establishment of the lesson of the fable.
Good

A problem or conflict is introduced after the scene is established. This problem is reasonable, given the fiction of the characters, and is explained well.
Limited

The problem or conflict established late in the story, and although it is addressed by the characters, is not given sufficient treatment to establish its importance in the plot.
Unsatisfactory

The story has no problem or conflict. The conflict is unrelated to the moral or the lesson, or is introduced as a minor part of the story.
Resolution

Exceptional

As "Good" but given greater detail. All key plot points are tied up.
Good

The problem or conflict is resolved in a manner that presents the moral of the story in an indirect but clear manner.
Limited

While a resolution is presented to the problem or conflict, it is presented in a hasty format, possibly as the conclusion to the story with no followup.
Unsatisfactory

The problem of the story is unresolved, or the resolution does not illustrate the lesson of the fable.
Format

Exceptional

Excellent effort given in presenting the final product as a children's storybook.
Good

The fable is presented in a children's storybook format, with illustrations related to the text. Illustrations are done in color, with attention given to detail.
Limited

As "Good" but missing one element.
Unsatisfactory

Missing more than one element of the "Good" criteron.
Grammar

Exceptional

No grammar or spelling errors.
Good

There are a couple of spelling or grammar errors, and these errors are minor enough to not interfere with the readability of the work.
Limited

Unsatisfactory
