Fluency	Excellent Student showed all the qualities of someone who has great competence using begining Spanish. Answered the question with ease.	Good Fairly competent speaking skills demonstrated (perhaps a few pauses) and reasonable attempt at answer question.	Fair Student was able to respond to the question but hesitated before answering. Many long pauses.	Developing Little or no response to any of the material presented. Student exhibited virtually no understanding of question.
Grammar	Excellent Little or no grammar errors. Showed almost complete mastery of the grammar covered in class.	Good Used grammar as taught in class but made a few minor errors.	Fair Could derive meaning from respons, but with several grammatical errors.	Developing Virtually no grammar skills displayed
Vocabulary	Excellent Close to perfect use of vocabulary. Slight errors.	Good Used vocabulary taught in class with a few minor errors.	Fair Limited vocabulary hampered overall ability to answer question. Could however derive meaning from response.	Developing Little or none of the vocabulary covered in class was used.
Listening	Excellent Student answered question and showed clear understanding.	Good Student responded to question, showed good understanding.	Fair Student made an effort to respond to question.	Developing Student lacked understanding and either did not answer question or did not answer appropriately.
Voice (pronunciation and clarity)	Excellent Close to perfect pronunciation, intonation. Slight errors. Appropriate volume	Good Good overall pronunciation skills and intonation (some errors.) Close to appropriate volume.	Fair Had difficulty with pronunciation, intonation and some confusion. However could derive meaning from response. Perhaps a little difficult to hear.	Developing Poor pronunciation,<BR> poor intonation,<BR> confused expression<BR> and/or difficult to hear.
