Shape	Poor The student did not include a repeated shape.	Good The student drew a shape and repeated it, but it is unclear how it relates to a story or painting studied.	Mastered The student drew a shape that symbolized something in the chosen painting or story at least three times.
Space	Poor The student did not vary the size of his objects to where it is noticiable. There is not much space evident.	Good The student repeated the shape in three distinct sizes, but did not overlap objects to create a greater sense of space.	Mastered The student repeated the shape in three distinct sizes to create space. The artist also overlapped to create a sense of space. Some objects/shapes went off the picture plane.
Color	Poor The student painted but did not use tints, tones, and shades or used less than 3.	Good The student used 3-4 tints, tones, and shades of a color.	Mastered The student used at least 5 tints, tones, and shades of a color.
Neatness/Time on Task	Poor The student was not neat leaving 10% of the paper or more white. The student did not stay on task 50% or more of the assignment.
