Ballroom Grading Criteria
	Needs Improvment/Poor Still needs to work onimproving 2 pts	Fair Has met the standards. 3 pts	Good Has met the standards and is improving 4 pts	Excellent Has met the standards above the expectations. 5 pts
Technical Skills Does the dancer have proper alignment-frame and posture? Correct arm/foot placment?	Needs Improvment/Poor Dancer almost never demonstrated correct arm, foot placement and posture/frame.	Fair Dancer rarely demonstrated correct arm, foot placement and posture/frame.	Good Dancer mostly shows correct arm, foot placement and posture/frame.	Excellent Dancer demonstrated proper placement of arms, feet, posture and frame.
Knowledge Is the dancer able to demonstrate the basic step and variations? variations?	Needs Improvment/Poor Dancer demonstrates basic correctly/ no variations.	Fair Dancer shows basic step/several variations correctly.	Good Dancer shows basic step/five variations correctly.	Excellent Dancer shows basic step/nine or more variations correctly.
Rhythm/Timing Is the dancer able to stay in rhythm and timing with the music?	Needs Improvment/Poor Attempts to keep rhythm/timing, but falls off beat/timing-speeds up or falls behind.	Fair Shows understanding timing/rhythm, gets off beat periodically.	Good Demonstrated good understanding of timing/rhythm and rarely gets off beat.	Excellent Demonstrated excellent timing/rhythm and did not get off beat.
Partnering How well did the dancer lead/follow/work with partner while demonstrating dances.	Needs Improvment/Poor Dancer made little effort in lead/follow.	Fair Cooperative/attentivemost of time with lead/follow.	Good Cooperative with partner-lead/follow and was prepared.	Excellent Always cooperative with lead/follow, well prepared.
Focus/Energy/Enthusiasm Is the dancer willing to learn?put effort ?is focused? is the student involved in the mood of the dance?	Needs Improvment/Poor No focus/energy/or little emotion.	Fair Shows some focus/ energy/emotion.	Good Appears focused, shows effort/energy/ emotion.	Excellent Demonstrated true focus, energy and enthusiasm.
