Persuasive Qualities	Excellent Student understood the assignment as wrote a persuasive letter to the teacher about a class pet.	Good Student wrote a letter persuading the teacher of something else instead of a class pet.	Fair Student wrote a letter but it was not persuading.	Poor Student did not write a letter at all.
Reasons	Excellent Student included at least 3 reasons it their letter to the teacher.	Good Student included only 2 reasons in their letter.	Fair Student included only 1 reason in their letter.	Poor Student did not include any reasons in their letter.
Strong opinion	Excellent Student included 3 strong reasons and backed up their true thoughts.	Good Student included 3 reasons but was not confident on their reasons.	Fair Student included reasons but their reasons did not make sense.	Poor Student did changed his or hers mind throughout the essay and did not have a strong opinion.
