Posture

Poor posture. In back of chair, slouching, and/or legs crossed. Instrument position is incorrect. Needs individual attention.

Right Hand

Bow arm needs attention. There is no flexibility
in the arm. It needs to be relaxed. Address the contact point and your arm weight.

Bow arm has beginning basic structure. Contact point, weight and speed are consistant.

Excellent bow arm. Right hand is flexible and fluid. Elbow and shoulder are aiding sound. Great contact point and natural weight.
Tone

Poor sound. Needs more bow, better weight distribution, needs better contact point. Keep left hand secure for good sound.

Sound not developed. Keep working towards more volume and consistancy in tone.

Tone is generally consistant. Good basic use of the bow and left hand.

Tone is excellent. Great use and distribution of the bow. Steady contact point, good arm weight.
Intonation

Music is completely out of tune. The student has no concept of where the fingers should be placed on the fingerboard.

Several errors in intonation occur, even though the hand is positioned correctly, little effort is made to correct mistakes.

Occasional notes are played out of tune, the student recognises this and attempts to correct their mistakes.

No notes are played out of tune - the intonation is very accurate. The music was performed as written.
Rhythm
