Proficient

Staggered consistently.
Demonstrates ability to lead with right or left foot, adjusting for different targets. Hips are consistenlty facing target, can effectively make adjustment to left and right.
Hands/Wrist

Precontrol

Hands do not stay together when contacting the ball, creating a double hit.
Control

Hands stay together. Wrist are not directed down toward the floor.
Utilization

Hands stay together, wrists are directed down toward the floor.
Proficient

Change hands into position quickly. Doesn't stand with hands together. Moves body into position before putting hands together. Able to direct the ball to the intended target.
Elbows/forearms

Precontrol

Elbows remain bent,
ball does not contact both forearms.
Control

Elbows straight but strikes one arm only, body not centered behind the ball.
Utilization

Contacts ball with both forearms and is most oftenable to direct ball to target.
Proficient

Waits for the ball. Takes ball in center of body. Contact occurs near the elbow of the forearms. Able to direct the ball to intended target.
Platform

Swinging - "cheerleading"
Bending elbows -"prayer"
Popping up -"poptart"
Stabbing- "stabbing"
Control

Arms start low and swing up to 45 degrees or platform is too low or too high. Contacts ball outside body.
Utilization

Arms are stationery at 45 degree angle at contact. Usually contacts ball in midline (between hips). Sometimes able to freeze platform at contact.
Proficient

Arms are stationery at 45 degree angle, body is relaxed. Player can freeze platform at point of contact. Platform is facing target area and ball is played between hips/shoulders
Movement to Ball

Precontrol

Does not move to the ball. Is stationery on the court.
Control

Movement to the ball is delayed resulting in run-throughs or unnecessary diving.
Utilization

Moves to the ball fluidly, staying low. Is often able to get into a stable platform position at contact.
Proficient

Moves fluidly to the ball, contacts the ball in a low, stable platform. Is able to anticipate ball trajectory and, therefore, move into position before the ball arrives.
