Soccer Skills Assessment 
Students will be assessed on their overall ability and attitude toward the game of soccer. Students will be assessed on their perfomance and sportsmanship.

Kicking from a stationary posistion

Minimal

Student's foot goes only 2-5 degrees behind them and misses the ball.

Student's foot goes between 6-10 degrees behind them. There is slight arm swing and little foot plant.
Acceptable

Student's leg is bent at the knee and arm swing helps with the distance of the kick. There is visable foot plant and little follow through with the leg.
Thorough/Advanced

Student's leg is bent at the knee before kick. Arm action is contralateral and helps with the force of the kick. There is visable foot plant and follow through with the leg.
Dribbling the ball

Minimal

Student uses toes to kick the ball in front of them and does not go in a straight line. The student is constantly chasing after the ball.

Student uses only one foot to kick the ball forward and chases after the ball. Student sometimes runs over the ball.
Acceptable

Student kicks the ball within 1 yard ahead of them with each pass. They use both feet and only the inside or outside of their foot. The student goes in straight line to the finish point a a fairly fast pace.

Student kicks the ball within 1 yard ahead of them with each pass. They use both feet and uses both the inside and outside of their feet. The student goes in a straight line to the finish point in a very fast pace.
Passing the ball to a Partner

Minimal

Student passes the ball with their toes and "pushes" the ball rather than kicks the ball. The ball goes nowhere near the target. The ball bounces for most of the pass.

Student passes the ball with their toes and "pushes" the ball rather than kicks the ball. The ball goes toward the target but is off by a few feet. The ball bounces for most of the pass.
Acceptable

Student passes the ball within a foot to their partner. Student sometimes uses the inside of their foot. Ball bounces on the ground through some of the pass.

Student passes the ball right on target (making it so that the partner does not have to move). Student uses the inside of their foot. Ball does not leave the ground.
Dribble around cones

Does not attempt to keep control of the ball, does not use both feet.
Lacks any speed due to lack of control.

Needs to work on speed, control is improving with use of both feet and striking the ball on the inside of foot.

Excellent ball control and body positioning, ball in control and all cones completed properly.

Proficient
Absorb the ball and soften the contact by moving slightly away on contact. Keeps the ball close, within one foot after trap.
Thorough/Advanced

Advanced
Prior knowledge and experience gives student an advantage.
Traps occur fast and without much effort.
