Pitch Accuracy
Superior
The student can accurately match at least 90 percent of pitches. Student performs pitches confidently and flawlessly.
Good
The student can accurately match more than 50 percent of pitches. The student may still have trouble with chromaticism and large leaps. Confidence is still present.
Fair
The student can match some pitch, but still has difficulty hearing notes. Lacks confidence.
Poor
Cannot match pitch. The student shows no confidence.
Vocal Quality
Superior
The student exemplifies the model choral sound, having an open, free sound. The student does not struggle to produce tone. The student's sound would strengthen the ensemble.
Good
The student has good vocal quality, including a smooth, open tone. The student may have difficulty in extreme ranges or difficult music. The student has potential to perform well in any ensemble.
Fair
The student has awareness of vocal quality, but is still lacking the desired open-tone choral timbre. The student could blend in some ensembles with preparation.
Poor
The student may sing loud, rough and closed. The student would probably not be able to blend with most ensembles.
Sight Singing
Superior
Student recognizes complex notation. One or fewer interruptions during performance.
Good
The student can recognize more complex notation and is able perform with little interruption.
Fair
The student can recognize basic rhythms including quarter, half and eighth notes. The student may have trouble performing patterns without interruption.
Poor
The student does not recognize basic music notation and is unable to perform.
Singing Technique
Superior
Student shows no difficulty when performing with proper breath, posture, and mouth formations.
Good
Student is familiar with singing techniques. Student displays proper breathing, posture and is able to form most vowel and consonant placements correctly.
Fair
Student displays some knowledge of basic singing technique. Student has more controlled breath but may lack other techniques.
Poor
Student displays no knowledge of basic vocal technique such as proper breathing, mouth formations, and posture.
Attitude
Superior
Student has a positive, charismatic attitude. The student shows potential of being a great leader and gets along with others.
Good
Student has very positive attitude. Portrays some leadership abilities and is willing to work with others.
Fair
Student displays some negative attidue. Student is unable to portray appropriate leadership abilities.
Poor
Student has poor attitude. Shows negativity and lack of leadership abilities.

Students will need to sing back pitches given.
Superior
Student was able to match all 5 pitches that were given
Good
Student was able to match 4 out of 5 pitches given
Fair
Student was bale to match2 out of 5 pitches given.
Poor
Student was able to match 1 or none of the 5 pitches given
