Characterization	Level 4 The main character(s) is/are realistic and developed. The reader can easily picture the character	Level 3 The character(s) is/are realistic, but inconsistently so. Traits are somewhat developed,	Level 2 The character is barely developed,	Level 1 Character is completely flat.
Plot	Level 4 The story is extremely developed and thorough .	Level 3 The story is developed, but needs just a little more.	Level 2 The story is somewhat developed or rambling	Level 1 The story is undeveloped or very poorly worded.
Setting	Level 4 Setting is described vividly	Level 3 Setting is clear, but not described well enough for the reader to fully picture.	Level 2 It is difficult for the reader to identify setting in the story, or the reader is merely told what the setting is.	Level 1 Setting is a complete mystery. No details are given to help the reader place where the action is happening.
