Purpose Did the student understand the problem and successfully incorporate at least 2 simple machines?	Poor Did not understand the problem and did not successfully utilitze any of the simple machines required.	Fair Somewhat understood the problem. Students used only one of the simple machines required.	Good Mostly understood the project, used two simple machines but did not connect them effectively.	Excellent Completely understood the problem and used two of the simple machines required and effectively.
Sketch /labeling information Did the student produce a neat and detailed drawing to help explain the machine? Was there a description of each step?	Poor Either the sketch or diagram of the machine was completely missing.	Fair The sketch or diagram was sloppy and difficult to read.and/or/ labeling and description of machine was not well detailed. Completed on a piece of loose leaf.	Good Some effort was put into the diagram/sketch, but the labeling was incorrect or unclear.	Excellent Diagram/ sketch is neat and detailed. The labeling of each part of the machine was accurate and clear.
