Conflict
Excellent
Story contains both internal and external conflict, which is well-developed and directly connected to both characterization and plot
Good
Story contains either internal or external conflict, which is well developed, and directly connected to the plot and main characters
Fair
Story contains conflict which is peripherally connected to plot and character, but is less developed.
Poor
Story contains little to no conflict, or what conflict is present is not addressed in the plot and does not contribute to characterization.
Plot
Excellent
Presents events that create a clear narrative. Story has a clear beginning, middle, and end and could be plotted on a plot diagram.
Good
Presents a sequence of events. Story attempts a beginning, middle, and end and some can be plotted on a plot diagram.
Fair
Presents a confusing sequence of events. Story has some sense of a beginning, middle, and/or end but could not be plotted on a plot diagram.
Poor
Presents no logical order. Story has no beginning, middle, and/or end and does not fit on a plot diagram.
Characters
Excellent
Successfully goes in-depth with description; clearly covers all aspects of character (looks, traits, actions.) Real Person Character is made to fit into the story; doesn't stand out apart from the story or seem unusually placed.
Good
Goes in-depth with description; covers most aspects of character (looks, traits, actions.) Attempted to fit RPC into the story; RPC slightly stands apart from the story.
Fair
Includes some description; covers some aspects of character (looks, traits, actions.) RPC does not fit well into the story and clearly was added without thought.
Poor
Does not go in-depth with description; does not cover all aspects of character (looks, traits, actions.)
RPC does not fit with story at all.
Content of Add-On
Excellent
Point of view, character dialogue, conventions, and use of language follows the theme and expectation of original fan-fiction. 1 page added onto the original required 3.
Good
Point of view, character dialogue, conventions, and use of language somewhat follows the theme and expectation of original fan-fiction. 1 page added, but does not reach total requirement.
Fair
Point of view, character dialogue, conventions, and use of language barely attempted to follow the theme and expectation of original fan-fiction. Less than 1 page added.
Poor
Point of view, character dialogue, conventions, and use of language does not follow the theme and expectation of original fan-fiction. Add on is not significant enough and/or the total length of the paper does not fit original requirements.
