Use of the specified materials (ie cardboard, duct tape, plastic bags) and all specifications for boat design met.
Acceptable

Most specifications regarding materials or specifications for boat design met.
Poor

Very few specifications regarding materials or specifications for boat design met.
Nothing

No Boat.
Principles of Construction

Excellent

Construction demonstrates excellent strength and rigidity, water-tight infrastructure.
Acceptable

Construction demonstrates good strength and rigidity, semi-water tight infrastructure.
Poor

Construction demonstrates poor strength and rigidity, evidence of leaks and collapse of infrastructure.
Nothing

Buoyancy/Displacement Physics

Excellent

Evidence in design and construction of buoyancy and flotation principles. Includes displacement, buoyant force calculations.

Accurate Prediction of waterline.

Passes the flotation test (two students three minutes w/ movement).
Acceptable

Evidence in design and construction of buoyancy and flotation principles. Includes displacement, buoyant force calculations.

Inaccurate Prediction of waterline.

Passes the flotation test (two students-two minutes).
Poor

Evidence in design and construction of buoyancy and flotation principles.

No calculations or waterline prediction

Passes the flotation test (one student-two minutes).
