Understanding	Needs Improvement Attempts to demonstrate an understanding of what touch is, but is not grasping the concept.	Developing Minimal understanding of what touch is. Is starting to show that they understand that hearing helps us interact with the world.	Good Understands the sense of touch and is able to recognize how it is used and can express that understanding with mostly with pictures and simple words.	Excellent Students have a strong understanding of the sense of touch and can express that understanding with complex words/sentences and pictures.
Describing	Needs Improvement Description sense of touch is minimal. Has no descriptive vocabulary.	Developing Begins to be able to describe the sense of touch and how they use it in their daily life. Has minimal descriptive vocabulary.	Good Description of the sense of touch is basic, but still lacks elaboration. Demonstrates some descriptive vocabulary.	Excellent Students demonstrate their thoughts clearly and are able to fully explain the sense of touch. Demonstrates strong descriptive vocabulary.
Approach to Art and Manipulatives	Needs Improvement Displays no strategies to develop representations of their learning.	Developing Begins to recognize and identify strategies and visual descriptions of the sense of touch.	Good Shows an understanding by their drawings and recognizes observation descriptors from the sense of touch.	Excellent Students drawings are well organized and they correspond to information on the sense of touch.
