Fair The student did the assignment adequately, yet it shows lack of planning and little evidence that an overall composition was planned.	Good The artwork shows that the student applied the principles of design while using one or more elements effectively; showed an awareness of filling the space well.	Excellent Planned carefully, made several sketches, and showed an awareness of the elements and principles of design; chose color scheme carefully and used space effectively.
Creativity and originality %	Poor The student fulfilled the assignment, but had no evidence of trying anything unusual. There was very little evidence of original thought.	Fair The student presented his/her idea with some originality and creativity.	Good The student presented his/her idea in a considerably original manner with a fair amount of creativity.	Excellent The student explored different ideas before producing his/her art work. Finished product shows high degree of originality and creativity.
Effort/Perseverance %	Poor The student did not put forth effort in completing the assignment and showed below average craftsmanship.	Fair The student finished most of the project, but could have used time more productively. The assignment showed adequate craftsmanship.
