Theme is Clear
To Work on Next Time:
The theme of change does not appear to be clear at all.
Progressing
The theme of change is somewhat present, but needs to be more strongly incorporated. While some images may address this theme, other feel random or not on point.
Meets Expectations
This project is about "Change" and that is fairly clear. It has lots of good imagery and symbols, but may need some explanation for someone to REALLY see the theme.
Exceeds Expectations
The theme of change is expressed very clearly through a variety of symbols, images, colors, etc.
Even without a verbal or written explanation, most people would know that this project is about Change.
It may address personal or public / social issues but feels "relevant."
Strong Composition
To Work on Next Time:
There appears to be no attempt to create a strong composition
Progressing
The composition is weak, it could be for a variety of reasons, see notes.
Meets Expectations
The composition has some strong areas, but also some weak areas. While there are some areas that "work", other areas still need attention.
Exceeds Expectations
There is a very strong composition. The student has used a wide variety of artistic techniques such as color blocking, diagonals, space, etc. to create a very strong arrangement.
Craftsmanship
To Work on Next Time:
The craftsmanship is very weak and is an area that should be worked on in future projects.
Progressing
The craftsmanship is an area that takes away from the overall aesthetic beauty of the project. See notes.
Meets Expectations
The craftsmanship is good, though there are a few places where there may be some visual distractions. See notes.
Exceeds Expectations
The entire project is pristine and professional in appearance. The level of technical skill is very high, no smudges, wrinkles, tears, etc. The artist seems to be in control of their medium (material.)
Follows Instructions / On Time
To Work on Next Time:
This project is VERY incomplete and / or does not follow instructions in some obvious way.
Progressing
This project may be obviously incomplete, didn't follow the process as laid out, or simply did not fulfill some basic requirement.
Meets Expectations
This project may have been not quite complete on time, seems unfinished in some areas, or part of the process was not followed. For the most part it followed directions.
Exceeds Expectations
This project was completed by Friday October 11th, followed the process laid out (started with a collage) and was completed with the self assessment.
Creativity
To Work on Next Time:
There is no visible creativity. Images seem very randomly selected and randomly arranged without thought or care.
Progressing
This project could use more creativity. It lacks a certain spark both visually and emotionally. The artist didn't seem to really care about this work.
Meets Expectations
This work of art is creative and has lots to offer visually. There are many moments to enjoy, yet some parts may feel less interesting visually than they perhaps could have been.
Exceeds Expectations
Upon looking at this work of art, is appears VERY original and unique. There is a freshness to it and it is unlike anyone else's project. This project clearly expresses a personal vision because of its highly creative nature.
