Content and Idea	Poor Thesis/Introductory paragraph is lacking interest, originality or is not present. body paragraphs do not address the topic, do not have topic sentences, or lack support. Conclusion is lacking substance or summary.	Fair Thesis/Introduction are adequate, but do not exhibit originality or incite interest. 5 paragraphs have topic sentences but lack enough support. Conclusion is ordinary, but adequate.	Good Title and introduction are inviting and original. Thesis is clear. 5 paragraphs with topic sentences supported with reasons, details and examples. Conclusion satisfies the reader.
Voice	Poor Uses first person most of the time, but it would be difficult to tell who wrote it or what they sort of person they are.	Fair Uses first person, but it doesn't always reveal the author's voice and personality.	Good Uses first person and reveals the author's personality. We want to know this person.
