Important Words	Exceptional Student underlined all important words and numbers found in the question.	Proficient Student underlined some important words and numbers found in the question.	Developing Student underlined few important words/numbers and/or the wrong words are underlined.	Poor Student underlined no important words/numbers and/or the wrong words are underlined.
Number Sentence	Exceptional Student wrote the math equation correctly including the correct operation symbols.	Proficient Student wrote the math equation mostly correct or used an incorrect operation symbol.	Developing Student did not write the math equation correctly.	Poor Student did not write the math equation.
Answer	Exceptional Student answer to the math problem is correct and labeled.	Proficient Student answer to the math problem is correct but not labeled.	Developing Student answer is wrong.	Poor Student did not write an answer.
Strategy	Exceptional The strategy the student used matches the problem correctly.	Proficient Student used a strategy but it does not match the problem.	Developing Student showed evidence of trying to use a strategy, but did not know which strategy to use.	Poor Student did not use a strategy.
