Effort and Participation

Level 1

The student demonstrates unsatisfactory effort toward the development of his/her musical skills. The student participates in class activities infrequently or disrupts the learning of others.
Level 2

The student demonstrates satisfactory effort toward the development of his/her musical skills. The student participates in class activities some of the time.
Level 3

The student demonstrates satisfactory effort toward the development of his/her musical skills. The student regularly participates in class activities.
Level 4

The student demonstrates exemplary effort toward the development of his/her musical skills. The student consistently and enthusiastically participates in class activities.
Criterion

Cooperation

Level 1

The student treats peers disrespectfully and/or participates in activities unsafely. The student does not demonstrate appropriate behaviour.
Level 2

The student treats peers respectfully some of the time and participates in class activities safely. The student usually employs appropriate behaviour.
Level 3

The student treats peers with respect most of the time and participates in class activities safely. The student employs appropriate behaviour.
Level 4

The student treats peers with respect at all times and participates in class activities safely. The student models appropriate behaviour.
Criterion

Preparedness for class

Level 1

The student is not ready to begin. He/she regularly requires reminders to focus.
Level 2

The student is sometimes ready to begin. He/she often needs reminders to focus.
Level 3

The student is usually ready to begin and rarely requires reminders to focus.
Level 4

The student is always ready to begin and never requires any reminders to focus.
