Performance
	Exceeding Standard All three components are present. 2 pts	Meeting Standard Two of the three components are present. 1.5 pts	Approaching Standard One of the three components are present. 1 pts	In Need of Improvement None of the three components are present; or, the work is not of an acceptable standard. 0.5 pts
Unity of Time	Exceeding Standard The play takes place in "real time", that is a ten-minute play takes up ten-minutes of the world of the play without jumps in time.	Meeting Standard The play mostly takes place in "real time" but there is a jump or cut in time that is handled fluidly in performance.	Approaching Standard The play mostly takes place in "real time" but there are two or more jumps or cuts in time that are handled fluidly in performance.	In Need of Improvement Jumps and cuts in time are handled awkwardly (i.e. "blink transitions")
Text	Exceeding Standard The characters in the play do not speak and it does not seem at all unusual that they did not speak.	Meeting Standard The characters in the play do not speak, and it seems somewhat unnatural	Approaching Standard The characters in the play do not speak and it does not seem logical for them not to speak in the given circumstances.	In Need of Improvement There is text used in the scene.
Use of the Backroom	Exceeding Standard The play is performed in the "mini-studio" or there is a compelling, dramatic reason to perform elsewhere.	Meeting Standard The play is not performed in the mini-studio and it does not add to the performance to have it elsewhere.	Approaching Standard The play is not performed in the mini-studio and it detracts from the performance to have it elsewhere.	In Need of Improvement Either the play or the performance takes place outside the classroom and it disturbs another class.
Directing

Preparation	Exceeding Standard Scene was exceptionally well-prepared. The scene showed it was rehearsed, polished and controlled with insight.	Meeting Standard Scene was adequately prepared. The scene showed it was rehearsed and was smoothly performed.	Approaching Standard Scene lacked in preparedness. The scene was somewhat choppy and slightly off in delivery.	In Need of Improvement Scene was unprepared.
Performance	Exceeding Standard Performance was excellent. Actors were well-chosen and directed thoughtfully. Scene showed the director understood the scene and was able to convey the emotions and motivations of the characters.	Meeting Standard Performance was acceptable. Actors were well chosen and directed adequately. Scene showed director understood the scene but was only somewhat able to convey the emotions and motivations of the characters.	Approaching Standard Performance was somewhat acceptable. Actors may have not been well chosen or more likely, not directed well. Scene may have shown the director had some misconceptions about the scene and/or the emotions and motivations of the characters were obscure.	In Need of Improvement Performance was not acceptable.

Theme	Exceeding Standard If/Then statement was clearly interpreted by the audience or the director has a plan for a "next step".	Meeting Standard If/Then statement partially interpreted by the audience or the director has a partial plan for a "next step"	Approaching Standard Only elements of the if/then interpreted by the audience or the director has a glancing plan for a "next step".	In Need of Improvement Audience was not able to interpret the if/then statement or the director did not submit a "next step".
Tech
	Excellent 2 pts	Above Average 1.5 pts	No props 1 pts	No Props 1.5 pts
Props, et al. Up to 2 points may be awarded for creative, successful use of props.	Excellent Props were used creatively and successfully. Obvious thought and extra effort was placed in their use.
