Purpose/Content	Poor Did not understand the problem and did not successfully utilize any of the simple machines required.	Fair Somewhat understood the problem. Students used less than 6 of the simple machines required.	Good Mostly understood the project, used 6 simple machines but did not connect them effectively.	Excellent Completely understood the problem and used at least 6 simple machines required
Art/Labeling/Information	Poor Either the Artwork or description of machine was completely missing.	Fair The artwork was sloppy and difficult to read and/or labeling and description of machine was not well detailed.	Good Some effort was put into the artwork but the labeling was incorrect or unclear.	Excellent Artwork is neat and detailed. The labeling of each part of the machine was accurate and clear. Written instructions of how the invention works is understandable.
Creativity/Originality	Poor Invention is not creative or is not an original idea. Ideas were taken from Rube Goldberg designs.	Fair Invention lacks a creative idea and is not unique or original.	Good Invention shows creativeness but is not very unique or original.	Excellent Invention shows considerable creativeness and uniqueness.
