Mostly conversational; throughout most of the speech you engage the audience. Work just a bit to excite and enthrall the audience more fully. Calm and confident.
Intermediate
While much of the speech is in written style there are times that you talk to us - do this more often so we can connect more fully. A couple of major distracting behaviors.

Life/Facial Expression
Expert
Feeling in your voice throughout the speech. Passion. Fun to listen to. Facial expressions enhance the message and are consistent with the intent of the message for the entire presentation.
Advanced
Some moments of feeling and passion. Facial expressions are consistent with the intent of the message throughout most of the presentation.
Intermediate
Only a couple of attempts at adding feeling or passion tot he speech. Facial expressions are somewhat consistent with the intent of the message.
Beginner
Speech is largely monotone. Little to no life. Facial expressions are minimal; speaker may appear bored.
Undeveloped
Facial expressions do not match the intended message and create confusion.
Eye Contact
Expert
Effectively, consistently engages audience with sustained eye contact. Takes in entire audience.
Advanced
Consistently engages audience with eye contact.
Intermediate
Attempts to establish eye contact but sometimes appears distracted an/or tied to notes. Looks only in 1 or 2 directions.
Beginner
Eye contact is minimal and fleeting.
Undeveloped
Eye contact is almost non-existent.
Gestures and Body Movement
Expert
Natural use of body movement and gestures reinforce speech throughout presentation. Your motions added to your speech.
Advanced
Body movement and gestures appropriate but infrequent.
Intermediate
Attempts to use body movement and gestures. Appears uncomfortable.
Beginner
Body movement and gestures are minimal and appear robotic or distracting.
Undeveloped
No attempt made to use body movement or gestures to enhance message.
Speed
Expert
Very good speed and rhythm to the speech. Used speed to enhance exciting parts of the speech. Good use of pauses for effect.
Advanced
Good speech overall. Some use of effective pauses. Used variation in speech to enhance the speech.
Intermediate
Not too slow or too fast, but all one speed throughout the speech. No pauses.
Beginner
Too fast or too slow. Speed was not varied.
Undeveloped
Way too fast or way to slow. No change of pace.
