Waves Teaching Presentation 
S8P5 Students will study the way sound and electromagnetic radiation travel as waves. S8P4.a Point/pick out the characteristics of electromagnetic and mechanical waves. Mechanical waves travel through material such as water. Electromagnetic waves travel trough space. S8P4.f Diagram the parts of a wave and explain how the parts change by changes in amplitude and pitch. S8P4.b Describe how the behavior of light waves is affected by reflection, refraction, diffraction, and absorption. Light waves change when they hit material, the way they change depend on the material the waves hit. S8P4.d Describe how waves behave differently as they pass through different solids; through liquids, such as water; through gases, such as air.
